    <abstract language="eng">A review of the literature is made about the most relevant aspects of the effects of the administration of prebiotics and probiotics on body composition, mainly on fat mass and on the Body Mass Index, as well as the effect they have on the inflammation that causes obesity in humans and that results in unfavorable health outcomes. There is evidence that suggests that the administration of prebiotics and probiotics, support the fight against obesity.</abstract>
