{"id":29672,"date":"2019-12-28T11:14:48","date_gmt":"2019-12-28T11:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biomedpharmajournal.org\/?p=29672"},"modified":"2020-04-22T05:55:48","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T05:55:48","slug":"evalution-and-molecular-docking-of-benzimidazole-and-its-derivatives-as-a-potent-antibacterial-agent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biomedpharmajournal.org\/staging\/vol12no4\/evalution-and-molecular-docking-of-benzimidazole-and-its-derivatives-as-a-potent-antibacterial-agent\/","title":{"rendered":"Evalution and Molecular Docking of Benzimidazole and its Derivatives as a Potent Antibacterial Agent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the increased multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria have raised an alarm throughout the world.<sup>1,2<\/sup> Around 50% of the antimicrobial drugs prescribed for human diseases, found to be unnecessary<sup>3<\/sup> .This use, misuse, overuse or over the counter has driven the major source towards the antimicrobial resistance<sup>4<\/sup> .Thus usage of antibiotics has become the major cause for the emergence and spreading of multi-drug resistant isolates of a group of microorganisms.<sup>5<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Gram-negative pathogens are predominantly troublesome since it has become resistant to all antibiotics that are in current use. The emergence of MDR (PAN resistance) in Gram-negative infectious occur in health care center commonly caused by <em>Klebsiellapneumoniae<\/em>, <em>Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/em>, and <em>Acinetobacter<\/em>species.<sup>6<\/sup> Among Gram-positive pathogens, <em>S.aureus<\/em> and <em>Enterococcus<\/em>species are the biggest threats.<sup>7,8 <\/sup>Furthermore, the antimicrobial drugs are expensive and cause undesirable side effects. Therefore, in light of the evidence of rapid global spread of resistant clinical isolates, we are in need to find out the new antimicrobial agents for future use.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the newer use of antibiotics possesses a different mode of action against emerging bacterial resistance strains, we are still in need of more effective and potent antimicrobials. In recent years, benzimidazole has gained more attention, as the ring is an important pharmacophore in modern drug discovery.
