Abstract: Cytotoxic effect of coelomic fluid of earthworm Eudrilus eugeniae was studied on Baby Hamster Kidney 21 (BHK21) Cells. Coelomic fluid from Eudrilus eugeniae was extracted by cold shock treatment. BHK21 cells were cultured according to standard cell culture method. BHK21 cells were treated with the various protein concentrations of coelomic fluid of Eudrilus eugeniae to study the cytotoxoc effect. The result revealed that the coelomic fluid of Eudrilus eugeniae induced cell death and the activity was concentration dependent, confirming the presence of cytotoxic molecule/s.
