Abstract: Atherosclerosis is a generalized disease causes thickening of arterial wall which leads to cardio-vascular disease. Automatic algorithm for measurement of Intima Media Thickness (IMT) in B-mode in ultrasound video frames is developed. Different types of despeckling filters are used to reduce granular noise and evaluated. As well as textural features are extracted from original and despeckled image which provide information about spatial properties and image elements. Modified Otsu thresholding method is proposed to measure the Upper and Lower Intima Media Thickness range and to identify the presence of disease. The results will help the doctors and radiologist for further diagnosis.
