Abstract: The main features of hybridization and selection of perennial and annual flower plants on the example of a Gladiolus hybridus hort. and annual asters (Callistephus chinensis (L.) Nees) are presented. The sources of valuable decorative, economic, and biological qualities recommended for further selection are described. The main directions of gladiolus and annual aster selective breeding are specified.
